Extremely bright lights for indoor home defense Posted: 11 Jul 2020 12:42 PM PDT Has anyone successfully utilized extremely bright lights for indoor home defense? I found a company that makes 40,000 lumens lights, and am thinking of installing one of them on a remote switch every 6 to 10 feet in the first floor of my home in order to deter home invasions. (For reference a 100 watt light bulb is 1600 lumens). Should I find myself with an attacker or attackers downstairs in the middle of the night, I would activate dozens of 40k lumen lights which would immobilize the assailants with blinding light and allow me and my family to flee or mount a counter assault. Possibly this may also offer protection during the day if the light is bright enough. Please let me know if you have any advice for this technique. I am particularly curious to hear any success stories involving deterring attackers or armed groups from precipitating a home invasion with bright lights. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Some cars possibly casing my house; need good cameras to document Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:23 PM PDT Hey all, First I will note that I live in a dense neighborhood and my house happens to be in front of the neighborhood park. I believe my house is being cased. Various, probably 5 or 6, cars stop in front of my house anywhere from 5 to 90 seconds.
Are there any cameras I can get that is good enough to get their face, car details and license plates? Thanks [link] [comments] |

Home security on a $1k budget? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:41 PM PDT I'm looking to supplement/layer security already in place. We are armed. Our next step is outfitting the home. There seems to be so many systems out there. I'm willing to spend around $1K. Could consider a subscription. [link] [comments] |
