That quote includes the cost of the cameras, which I found here: https://www.amazon.com/CMIP7043W-MZ-2-8-12mm-Motorized-Vandal-Camera/dp/B07B46DBDM

He would be hooking me up to an NVR type system. It just seems a little excessive in price? I'm ok with the cameras costing $400 but should the cost of his labor plus the NVR be $600? Just want to make sure its normal, I have no experience in this.

Edit: thanks for the responses everyone! I'll go with it.

How to determine what UPS to use for your home system?

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 02:43 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I'm designing a small system (cctv & door entry) for a house that's in a country where electricity is not always stable. I'd like for the system to have backup power and protection against power surges.

The system takes around 60W+ at any given time.

However, I can't seem to figure out what UPS to get that would allow for maximum run time in a case of lost power, but also protect against surges. To be honest, I can't even seem to figure out how to calculate how long a power supply will last from its rating..

TL;DR what type of UPS for a 60W load?

    Fenderman IPcamtalk Issues

This guy is out of control. Ive been on the site since 2017. I have been a active user since 2017. I have used Blue iris since 2017. I decided to switch to a NVR based on my needs and options. OMG the min someone showed interest in my Blue Iris PC I was selling on the forum, Mr fender man flipped a lid when I called him out. I was nothing but nice. Please see all the screen shots and then the crazy email he sent me.

He claims he is owns a law firm of 10 but someone with bad gramma and the attitude alone, I do not believe it what so ever.

All I said, which you will see was I needed the NVR over Blue Iris. He then threw words in my mouth saying my PC over heats and what not. Ive been on here for 3 years with out issues. His emails, which keep coming are funny. He is a sad person and like the power he gets from a forum board. LOL

UPDATE: This is what it says when I log into ipcamtalk

Live view delay of up to 10 seconds on television, but watching on web browser there is no delay!?

    Posted: 22 Aug 2020 01:18 PM PDT

    Hi,

I have an IP camera set up with an NVR (both Hikvision).

Does anyone know why when I am watching the live view from the NVR on my television, there is a half second delay which I understand is normal. However, the delay becomes progressively worse and lasts 3 to 4 seconds if the NVR is kept idle for at least 30 minutes. The delay then becomes even worse and lasts 7 to 8 seconds if the NVR is left idle for more than an hour.

The most odd and strange part is that if I click into the menu and then go back to the live view at any time, the delay goes back to lasting for half a second, but then once the NVR is left idle again for 30 minutes, the longer delay re-appears.

If I am watching the live view on my browser, there is no delay and its all fine, so I wonder if the problem could be my TV or HDMI cable connecting my TV to my NVR?

    Thanks for your help,

    Vivint Appointment Deposit?!

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:58 PM PDT

Something crazy just happened to me when I was on the phone with Vivint... I was talked into giving a stranger my debit card number, to be charged $26 to reserve a space for an install consultation. Nothing about this computes.

The salesman was so good that I just did what he said. Amazing social engineering skills. I didn't even second guess it... I NEVER give my card over the phone. Never.

A sales person asking for $26 to get your business? This is the most confusing business model. It sounds just like an MLM. I've never felt more like I just bought Tupperware and duped at the same time!

Anyway, I see in the fine print that the $26 is meaningless and they give it back unless you sign up. I think they are using your own money to create a false sense of collateral and also a feeling of investment. I'd honestly like to take this dude for a beer and pick his brain about marketing.

Anyway, I'm going to cancel the appointment because $2,600 is way more than I'm willing to spend. I just thought I'd share this, because it kind of made me feel like I was 12 years old, falling for a conman's trick in a booth at the fair.
