"Good enough" outdoor battery powered wireless camera system?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:25 PM PDT

After lurking through this sub, I have determined that hardwired cameras are the way to go. I wish I had that luxury right now.

I had asked my landlord if he would let me wire a hardwired camera system myself. After consulting his HOA, he said no. However, he and they will allow me to have things like Ring or Arlo. He told me that if I wanted peace of mind, I can do that.

That being said, which outdoor batter powered wireless camera system does a good enough job? I obviously can't be looking at something top notch right now. Just something that will allow me to occasionally monitor the house when I'm on vacation or traveling for business.

I'll get something better when I own my own place. But for the next few years, I will be in this rental house and will need to rely on a wireless camera system.

I would like to have two cameras in one dome, one hidden and pointed backwards.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 08:45 AM PDT

I would like to put one camera up on the side of my house and and the other pointing the other way. I have a weird neighbour, both cameras would only see the permitter of my house so I am not about invading anyones space, but this guy eavesdrops and things. I don't want to start a camera war so I am going to put on that looks like it points out and maybe another that goes backwards. My idea was one of those black security camera domes you see in stores, but inside of it is two cameras or if possible just one that sees 180 degrees. thanks

Cheap surveillance camera 2 weeks battery?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:46 AM PDT

Im looking for a camera that can stay powered on for a couple weeks, and that will alert me if someone entered its field of view.

I would rather have it send me video feed online instead of keeping it on a card.

Ideally a video feed I can access from an app but even if it just notifies me when it detects something is fine.

Best wifi camera system for rental home?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:08 AM PDT

    Hi.

I live in a rental house in a pretty quiet neighborhood. However, I still want some peace of mind. I've decided on sole security cameras.

My landlord will not let me put up any PoE cameras under any circumstances. He will, however, let me install some battery powered or solar powered wifi cameras.

The house is a 2300 square feet two story house.

What's the best wifi camera system according do your guys' experience? I have a budget of $2k.

    Most reliable external wi-fi cameras

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:34 PM PDT

I already have 4 LTS PoE cameras around my house outside. However, there are some spots that the cameras can't see. If I adjust those to view the other blind spots, there would be new blind spots.

I would add more cameras but I can't because I only have a 4 channel NVR (which I regret) and my house is a huge pain in the ass to wire. If I do want to add more cameras, I would need to put on some conduit, which my HOA forbids.

That being said, I would like to add a few, like two or three wi-fi cameras so I can capture the blind spots I can't see. I was thinking Eufy Cam 2.

I do already have one Wyze Cam v2 on the inside looking out a window to cover one blind spot. But I can't do that for the other two or three blind spots.

    Thanks!

Need a Motion Sensor that I can Turn Off

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:13 PM PDT

Sorry if this is an easy one but I couldn't find it in my searching. I am looking for a motion sensor light for my back patio but would also like the ability to turn it off when we are just sitting out there at night.

I already have a back light on a switch but since I do not leave that on all night I would like something to come on if anyone walks back there.

    Thanks
