Am I being paranoid? I believe I witnesses an attempted break in tonight. Posted: 21 May 2020 01:11 AM PDT So about a month ago my mom said that around midnight someone walked between her house and the neighbour's. She made sure the house was secured and went to bed. Things have been uneventful up until tonight. I don't normally stay over at my mom's but for some reason tonight I did and while heading to bed at 2:30 AM I heard a car pull up near the front of her house. My window faces the road so I peaked through to see who it was. The guy driving got out of his car, took a piss on the road and went to grab something out of his trunk. It looked like he was trying to hype himself up then suddenly he put his hood up and stormed towards my moms house. He saw something (I grabbed my phone to call 911 so maybe he saw the light from my window) and turned around, got into his car and drove away. I spoke to the police but they told me that because I didn't have a license plate number they wouldn't send a car out to the area. I am spooked to say the least, I live in Ontario on a quiet suburban street. There are a ton of car break-ins in my area but I don't understand why someone would pull directly in front of my moms house when there are a bunch of other parked cars surrounding the house. Was this a potential break-in/robbery? Home invasion? My mom lives alone and I am a young female. My mind is racing with what the intentions of this person was and if they'll be back. Any advice on what to do moving forward or maybe what this might have been would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 May 2020 06:14 PM PDT He wished to have a doorbell camera, one indoor camera with two way voice, and two outdoor cameras. I suggested a 4 camera Dahua POE system with a WiFi doorbell camera (powered by original doorbell wiring). I could not find a camera with 2 way audio. He ignored my advice and ordered an Arlo Pro 3 wireless system that provided 3 wireless cameras and a doorbell camera. It turns out that he wireless camera O LY connect to the base station and not to the home WiFi. As a result, he is now very disappointed because he cannot place the cameras far from the base station. Posted: 20 May 2020 05:33 PM PDT Hello, I am moving into a not-so-great area, and I'm wondering how to protect my garage that faces the street, housing 2-3 motorcycles and a few thousand $$ in tools. There's obviously a large padlock on it, and motion activated lights and security cameras directly above. My bikes are fully insured but are high end and attract attention. The garage door is fully manual if it matters. I'd wondering if anyone knows an alarm that goes off if the garage is opened without being disabled first--one that can connect to wifi that I can disable from my phone for 5 min or whatever when i open the garage and will arm itself again after I go inside. I'm thought this wouldn't be a tall order considering tech on the market but after an hour of googling I can't find anything that fits this description. If anyone has any ideas that would be awesome. Replacement options for Q-SEE DVR? Posted: 20 May 2020 11:47 AM PDT I currently have an older model Q-SEE DVR with 8 BNC cameras around my home. My DVR finally took a dump, but I hated it anyways, as the user interface was absolutely atrocious. With that being said, PLEASE tell me there are better options that are more user friendly on the market? If so, what brands should I be looking at? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 May 2020 06:14 PM PDT Are there any vulnerabilities with the front point system that anyone knows of? For example: the door mounts that notify you when the door has been opened/closed. If there are any bypasses or anything I should should know about please let me know. [link] [comments] |
Security Cameras for multiple group homes Posted: 20 May 2020 05:55 PM PDT Hey all, My organization is looking to get security camera systems installed at a handful of our group homes. I'm thinking that those $150-250 DVR + 4 camera systems on Amazon might be our best bet. Do you guys have any suggestions on good systems or perhaps alternative options? Looking for something reliable and secure, nothing "home brew" that could pose a security risk or be more unreliable than normal. Easy installation is a plus. Live remote feed view would be nice but not necessary.. [link] [comments] |
