Posted: 26 Apr 2020 07:22 PM PDT For example, all the cameras I see in the $40 or less price range is cameras that have Chinese branding like HIKTECHL right smack dab on the front. If they don't have branding, they'll have all sorts of designs on them that make them look like toys. Thank you. Edit: only dome cameras or a style similar to this one. they can be in the used market. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Apr 2020 08:44 PM PDT I'm looking to invest in a smart home system, leaning towards google, and I'm also thinking about getting a security system. My one thing is that I want to be able to pull up live fees on my TV. I know this is excessive, but its been my dream since I was a kid. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Apr 2020 01:13 PM PDT hello all, I posted this in r/homeautomation but just stumbled on this sub which I feel is a more relevant place to ask this question. new to home automation and security and i had a question regarding network security and protecting the family from device security breach in the future. how do you have your devices set up? would you recommend only creating a new SSID on the router for smart home or getting a whole new router? thanks [link] [comments] |
DIY Self Monitored System that Works with Honeywell 5800 Sensors Posted: 26 Apr 2020 12:52 PM PDT Curious if there are any diy self monitoring options. Have Andersen windows with the built in verilock sensors that are Honeywell 5800 based. [link] [comments] |
New Build Equipped with POE Camera Wiring Posted: 26 Apr 2020 03:18 PM PDT We recently moved into our new construction house and had cat6 wired for POE cams on the exterior. Only problem is we have no idea how to hook them up. All the wiring seems to run under the stairs to a central box but we have no clue which wire goes where and the cat6 under the stairs do not have end pieces attached. The windows are also all wired and it seems they're ran to their own spot in the wall but have no clue what to hook that wire up to. Total newbie when it comes to home networking so any help is appreciated. Is there an easy way to figure this out? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Apr 2020 05:46 AM PDT Folks, I am moving to a smaller house and am having trouble deciding what security system to go with. Things that are important to me. Professional Monitoring No contract or very limited contract Outdoor cameras One indoor camera Doorway entry sensors Carbon Monoxide/Smoke detectors I've been looking at Simplisafe, but see nothing but bad reviews from everyone. Also been looking at Abode, but they don't have their own outdoor cameras yet. Please help, I'm moving soon. [link] [comments] |
