System with the best mobile monitoring, outdoor cameras, and best mobile alerts? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 03:43 PM PST My top priorities for a home security system are the following (listed in order of top to least priority):
Not sure if this is a tall order but I'm grateful for whatever you can come up with. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Possible to Temporarily Disable Glass Break Sensor Upon Entry Posted: 03 Mar 2020 12:27 PM PST I have a rather unique circumstance at my business that I haven't been able to find a solution to. I'm hoping someone here with more expertise in security systems can provide some insight. I own a retail business center with a mailbox lobby in the front with 24-hour access for the mailbox renters. The front of the store has a glass retail style door, and four 36" sections of glass (two on each side of the door). After business hours a security gate sections off the mailbox area from the rest of the store, so that way when mailbox renters access the mailbox lobby with their proximity key fob, the rest of the store is locked off. Since the mailbox lobby is accessible by mailbox customers 24-hours a day, I cannot utilize a motion detector in this part of the store. The alarm system is a Qolsys IQ Panel 2. The door sensors (and motion sensors in the other part of the store) are hardwired to a Qolsys hardwire translator and relayed back to the panel. There is a door sensor on the front door, but it is setup as a notification only sensor in the panel since it's opened after hours to gain access to the mailbox lobby. What I'm looking to do is have the alarm go off immediately if the front plate glass on the store is broken. The problem I'm running into is any glass break sensor I've tried gets false alarms from both customers dropping their keys or other personal belongings on the floor, or from the staff when they unlock the security gate to enter the store (when the cam locks are released they make a loud "CLINK" sound that sets off the glass break sensor). The security gate itself has a door contact sensor on it that triggers the countdown on the alarm panel when it is opened. What I need to do is figure out a way to temporarily disable the glass break sensor for 2 - 3 minutes every time the front door sensor is opened (similar to how a motion detector is temporarily disabled when a countdown door sensor is opened). This would allow enough time for customers to get their mail or for the staff to unlock and open the security gate when entering in the morning. If someone is going to break the plate glass on the front of the store, they will not first open the front door (they would simply break the glass in the door or next to the door - and I need for the alarm to go off immediately if this happens). Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this? I also have two CCTV cameras in that lobby that are fed to a pretty advanced NVR, and there is also an access control system which controls the front door. Both the NVR and access control system have alarm outputs on them. I'd prefer to do it without involving those two external systems, but I'm open to anything at this point. I also wouldn't be against using some kind of SmartThings or other external z-wave integration if that can accomplish what I'm looking to do. [link] [comments] |
How long will low battery last for ? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 04:56 PM PST I got a low battery warning on a dsc alarm but I'm not sure I'll be able to call the company today. How long will the battery last when the warning comes on ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Mar 2020 08:52 AM PST I work in the ocean with no internet access from anywhere to 5-10 days. Because of this I fear someone can just break into my house without me knowing until a week later. Wondering if theres any camera systems that record up to a week or cheap monthly home security plans? [link] [comments] |
Indoor security camera that is able to record upon request for up to an hour? Posted: 03 Mar 2020 10:09 AM PST I own a few Kasa cameras as part of my home security setup and they are all well and good for monitoring the home and capturing short periods of video (up to 3 minutes) when there's movement. However me and the wife would like something similar that has the ability to record longer videos if needed (we may or may not be planning to use this in the bedroom). I've had a quick Google and I can't seem to find suitable cameras. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Cameras with rtsp:// view-only access and h.265 Posted: 03 Mar 2020 01:15 PM PST I am interested in proposing a program to my local police, where I help setup outside cameras in our neighborhood, hosted by individual residents. The concept started from an investigator who visited my home to look for footage of a crime on my street. I want the cameras to support RTSP protocol with view-only username and password authentication. I'd like to be able to setup a couple Raspberry Pi units with TVs in the police station, and run camera monitor software on them that just streams a low bitrate h.265 sub-stream. Of course I don't want the police to have access to anything else. Are there any affordable cameras that offer this? I would like to have local sdcard storage as well. When there are incidents, it is often better for the investigator to just retrieve the card as evidence, I've done this myself. POE would be a great feature too. I use Amcrest cameras personally with projects but Amcrest support confirmed that the RTSP feature is admin-only. I think this will be a great crime deterrent, and I could create some great neighborhood watch signs to place around town! [link] [comments] |
Looking for an outdoor camera with internal storage Posted: 03 Mar 2020 12:57 PM PST Hello, I have an Amcrest IP4M-1026 camera. It has internal storage using SD-CARD. I have a 32 GB SD-CARD installed. While it works OK, the phone app Amcrest View Pro is not what I would consider "great". Notably, the configuration of the camera requires the use of a computer browser and a plug-in. So I can not make any changes through the phone/tablet app. Is there an alternative brand that is better and has all the features the Amcrest has these features: 1) SD-CARD storage (or similar internal storage).
