Home security: Simplisafe Incorrect WiFi Password

Home security: Simplisafe Incorrect WiFi Password

    Simplisafe Incorrect WiFi Password

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:01 PM PDT

Please save the comments regarding Simplisafe being a terrible system. I've seen them here now only after purchasing this some months ago. We may look into alarm.com and switch altogether but for now I'm not ready to scrap this $400 of equipment that we bought so...

We are set up and when entering our WiFi password we just keep receiving "Incorrect password" repeatedly. We changed the password to something super simple and only 8 characters to appease the customer service agent that insisted we must be incorrectly entering it...to no avail.

In addition to it not connecting to WiFi it says cellular is disabled.

Has anyone dealt with/resolved this issue? We attempted to disable 5G and only connect to 2.4 and later attempted to connect to 5G. Nothing works.

    Thank you!

    DVR for Lorex LBV2513TB's

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:21 AM PDT

I purchased 6 Lorex LBV2513TBs for $15 each. Thought it was a great deal. Now I just need a DVR. Can these analog cameras be hooked up to any DVR the accepts analog?

Do you guys have recommendations for a DVR that is around $50-100, doesn't need HDD. I run a home server and was thinking of having the video save to a monitored folder by Plex and watch saved videos from there. I'd still like to be able to access them live as well.

Video system for a small apartment building.

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 08:19 AM PDT

The house was built in 1913 and converted to four apartments in 1955. It's all wood framed, about 4500 square feet between the basement, main and upper.

Due to some recent incidents I've decided I should install a video surveillance system but there are so many options.

I feel like four cameras would be enough and I would like a dedicated recording unit, so I don't have to use my computer or any sort of subscription service.

I currently live in my building but that may not be the case in the future, so something that relies on wifi is not suitable.

I've seen 2.4 GHz wireless cameras online. Will their signal go from outside to a room in the basement?

I know I'm going to have to run power to the cameras, so I'm okay with wired cameras if wireless solutions won't work for my situation.

What are good brands? There are so many to choose from. It doesn't have to be the most expensive but I want something high quality.

    Opening a security system cabinet

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 01:48 PM PDT

I moved into a house with a non-functioning alarm system, and I would like to get into the control cabinet, but it is locked, and no keys were left. It looks similar to this- https://www.recycledgoods.com/dsc-pc5010-power-832-security-system-cabinet/

Beyond picking the lock or brute force, is there any way into it?

I'm not sure of this isnthe right sub but maybe you guys can help me out.

With all the craziness going on in the world today I decided to beef up my home security to make my family feel more safe. I've been reinforcing my doors with strike plates and locks for added security. I definitely feel safer than what I did.. I recently discovered a brand of locks called nightlock. The locks in particular that I'm interested in install on the bottom of the door and on the floor. The question I have is can I install the floor portion of the lock on my linoleum floor or is that not an option. Also I'm curious as to what you guys think is the best type of lock for a door. I've heard good things about the Buddybar Jammer but I wasn't sure what to think since I've read varying accounts. What do you guys think? And before anybody asks yes I have multiple firearms so that's taken care of. I also understand that no lock is perfect and that a determinant Intruder can get in regardless. My main goal is to just buy time to prepare my defense. Thanks for your time.

Generating WiFi for DIY surveillance on property development sites?

    Posted: 29 Mar 2020 02:59 AM PDT

    Hello,

as title says I am looking to set up a few cameras at different housing development sites. They have electricity, but no wifi.

Can anyone brainstorm an idea for me? Will i need to get a router/subscription for each house's setup or is there something I'm overlooking?
