Outdoor flood lights: constant on or motion activated?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 07:53 AM PDT

I'd like to add some outdoor floodlights to have better night time camera footage. For that use case a light that is constantly on works best I thing so the camera doesn't have to waste time reacting to a drastic lighting change scenario. But how do they compare with motion activated lights in terms of deterence? What's 'best'?

Viewing security cameras on a display/TV

    Posted: 07 Jul 2020 09:45 AM PDT

So I searched for this and there were a few discussions 3-5 years ago but nothing recent. I am starting a new build from scratch and curious to see if there have been any improvements with displaying camera feeds from a NVR to TVs around the house? I am planning on having 10+ cameras and would love to have a few dedicated TVs to display them always in a grid box. Are we there yet?

Edit: brand new house being built and all new equipment, so anything goes.

    vista 20p smoke alarm daily

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 05:16 PM PDT

Almost every day the smoke alarm goes off at the exact same time. I have had the company out that installed the system and they replaced all of the smoke detectors but it is still doing it.

The error on the panel says "01 Fire check"

How much did you pay for ADT home security?

    Posted: 06 Jul 2020 04:44 PM PDT

I've just bought a home with my sister and am afraid that we were taken advantage of with an ADT package plan. We got talked into adding a smart door lock, which came included with a video doorbell. So overall we have 3 fire and 3 carbon monoxide detectors, 3 door sensors, a smart door lock and a video doorbell under a $1,700 package plan. I noticed other people have posted that they have like 6 cameras under this same price. He installed these today and now we want to remove the doorbell camera. He said that we got it for "free with the points and if we remove it the total would go up drastically because you'll need to have some sort of camera in order to be in the plan, therefore it would be $2,500 instead of $1,700." Is this true? Also, is there another plan I could ask for?
