WiFi 180 FOV + Google Assistant + IFTTT Camera suggestions

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 05:42 PM PDT

    Hello all,

Am looking for security camera options that provide a 180 degree field of view, Google assistant and IFTTT integration.

Cameras are to be placed outside, where I can provide power, but in such a place where they will never get wet or any rain, so am thinking that maybe even indoor cameras could work.

The only two options I found are: - Arlo Ultra - Which will end up being very expensive - D-Link DCS-8100LH - Which seems to be the best option currently, but is indoor and is only 720p

Anyone know of any other brand that has what I need?

Swann also seemed like a great option, but no IFTTT.

    Thanks!

2 males keep returning to my home but do not damage or break in (yet?)

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:19 AM PDT

I'm looking for some advice on what to do next-

A couple weeks ago my security camera caught 2 males lurking around our home around 3am (mind you ppl are home so I'm wondering what they are trying to achieve). We called the police and they said we could only file a report if they damaged or broke into anything. They haven't but my footage shows them looking into my car, pulling handle, and scoping out the back door of the home. They've come 4x since the first visit. They come on random days and different hours of the night. I feel on edge like I have to stay up every night waiting to catch them in the act - any advice? Is there specific equipment I should buy? I have already shared with the police department what they look like.

    Narrowing down system choices

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:00 PM PDT

I have not had the nightmare some have had with arlo but it is time to upgrade to something that is not so limiting.

I have been reading up on camera systems and would love some discussion on the following:

NVR vs. buying addon cameras and running my own software(I have a QNAP NAS. is their camera app any good?)

bullet vs dome. i am not worried about vandalism of the actual unit but it will be outside.

i am planning on using a moca adaptor to run ethernet to the attic where i can more easily run ethernet for poe. terrible idea?

My main problem right now is when I search camera there are so many it is impossible to start chipping away.

    want list:

    poe

plays nice with home automation ie live stream on actiontiles

make out a face from 30 feet away

not looking for the most expensive but willing to spend to meet my needs

    Cam options

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:40 PM PDT

So, I've bought a few and returned those. I currently bought the Eufy 2k cam (new one). It's great. However, the infrared lights constantly show when in the dark and drives my cat nuts among me. Night vision is great with it on. I am looking for the Eufy 2k and all its features, clarity, simple etc, but without the infrared lights on. Is there anything out there like that? Had the wyze but the clarity wasn't that good. I guess I'm looking for everything including excellent night vision without the lights lighting up the room but still being able to see picture perfect in the dark?

    ADT beeping ruining my sleep

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:06 AM PDT

Starting a few months ago, my ADT alarm would randomly sound until one of us went to the interface and pressed a button on the keypad to turn it off. This is happening around every 4-8 hours, and is really annoying! Do you know what might be the cause of this and how I could stop it completely? I called ADT and they couldn't really do anything because the system was from our previous home owners, so we do not know the code, and it is out of date. Thanks!

Edit: It's the Safewatch Pro 2000 if that helps at all.

    DIY camera and DVR upgrade?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:51 AM PDT

Recently purchased a house that has an existing camera setup with 4 outdoor cameras. System is about 15 years old, with an old DVR and analog cameras. Would upgrading the system to something more modern, something online with smartphone access, a job that I can do myself? Is it just as simple as installing the new cameras and DVR with the existing wiring?

24/7 recording to fix a broken machine at work

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:33 AM PDT

I need recommendations for a camera that will record 24/7 and then erase at a certain time every day. I need the camera to be able to record a machine that is malfunctioning, and be able to rewatch the incident occur. This means it isnt motion activated, but just recording always. Are there any cameras that will do this for relatively cheap?

How to secure basement casement windows with Ring?

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:21 AM PDT

I have two large casement/crank out windows in my basement as an egress, and I'm wondering how to secure them well. I have already purchased many Ring devices, so if the solution involves a security system I'd like to work without that ecosystem.

    Some notes/comments about my situation:

    1. I'll put a motion sensor there, but that won't help when the system is in Armed+Home mode, because I don't want to activate that sensor if anyone is home. I'm guessing it won't take long before someone accidentally walks downstairs while it's armed.
    2. I could put window contact sensors (like I have on all my vertical sliding windows) but I don't know if that will actually catch anyone. I imagine most break-ins will involve just smashing out the whole window, since smashing a small hole and then cranking it open while standing in the path of it seems rather awkward. This might still be worth doing, though. Thoughts?
    3. I'll put a motion light+camera outside the windows, but since they're egress anyone could easily hide out of view while breaking in.
    4. Does anyone know of a good glass break sensor that works alright with Ring?
    5. Are there any non-ugly physical solutions that would help? I'm not mounting iron bars across it. It's not a prison, and the windows are nice to look out.

    Thanks in advance!

Need affordable outdoor wireless solution. In Canada.

    Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:16 AM PDT

I have a Wyze v2 cam inside a housing. Its honestly not that good. Has connection and other issues. Poor quality at night.

My car was smashed and broken into and now I'd like to upgrade to a better solution.

I see costco has a Lorex wifi outdoor cam for $100.

    Any suggestions ?
