    IP License Plate Camera Question

    Posted: 02 May 2020 01:37 PM PDT

Hey guys, someone has been stealing things from my dads truck/backyard and we bought cameras but feel like they wont be enough since they aren't LPR. I found some on ebay that are pretty cheap but I dont know if I should gamble on them since they might be crap. I linked two below and was wondering if anyone has tried these same models out? He won't be willing to pay more than 300 dollars. I know the good ones are 700+ but that is just way out of his price range.

These are only 180 and im kind of skeptical but I can return them

Does anybody else struggle to find a balance between readiness and safety when it comes to gun ownership for self defense?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 06:37 PM PDT

I find my self struggling with this a lot. I know that it's very unlikely that I would need to use a gun in a home defense scenario, I can't help but think about 'what if' scenarios. That being said, if I am going to use a gun for home defense, it should be ready to use at a moments notice. But, if it's ready to use, then that means it isn't securely locked up.

I know there are finger print gun locks, but I saw a video of the lock picking lawyer take it apart in seconds. I feel like a kid could easily get the lock apart if they had 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to tinker. Maybe a happy medium is a gun with some sort of motion detection that would tell me if someone is moving it.

Not sure what the answer is here, curious to hear about what others have done.

    Swann Security Webserver remote access?

    Posted: 01 May 2020 09:03 PM PDT

Anyone familiar with Swann Security DVR? While my moms house was getting a new roof and siding, I installed a Swann Security 8 channel system and all is well, however it would be nice to be able to access the actual local DVR remotely to tweak settings or whatever instead of having to actually go there.

Does the DVR host it's own local webserver? I can VPN into the network remotely, but I'd like to have full local access anywhere in the world.

    Need camera for my Car.

    Posted: 01 May 2020 05:52 PM PDT

Hello. I'm looking for a Camera that is covert, but I Can place on my rear board so I Can see through my window, or even the dashboard for when I park my car.

I'm looking for something that, preferably would have remote viewing (with android / phone) - Similar to the Amazon blink cameras. But I need one that is capable without Wi-fi.

I understand blink cameras need a wifi connection + module. Are there any good cameras out there with motion detection, are small, and don't require wi-fi that have remote viewing? (android / phone) - thanks.
