Where does one start when looking for a professional to install security cameras? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:10 PM PST So I will be purchasing some ReoLink cameras and a PVR, but I know that I lack the expertise to decide where the cameras should be set and what they should be aimed at. So that means I'd like to find a professional with that expertise to come out and show me where the cameras I bought should be installed and where they should be aimed (angled) at. So to be clear, I don't even need the professional to install the cameras, that my family has the expertise to do on our own, but deciding where they should go and how they should be angled is where I am in need of help. Apartment Safe Outdoor Security Cam Posted: 21 Jan 2021 11:52 AM PST I'm struggling to find a security cam to put at my apartment door. I was harassed by a man in the parking lot who followed me to my door and now I'm terrified to be home alone. I'm not sure what I can do without screwing something into the walls? And there are no outlets in the hallway. Do I have any options? [link] [comments] |
DSC WT5500 external power supply voltage and plug size? (5v instead of 4.5v?) Posted: 21 Jan 2021 03:03 PM PST Hi. I have a WT5500 wireless keypad but I do not have the external power supply. I ordered one 2 months ago, and it has been in the USPS black hole ever since.

Vista 20P forgot zones after flooding Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:07 PM PST Hey guys, So the geniuses who built my home decided that the perfect spot for a security panel would be directly benwath a water softener drain. As luck would have it, the drain overflowed and saturated the panel with water. After several days of letting it dry and replacing an existing envisalink board, it appears that the panel forgot all of the some numbers. The display panels will alert me when the system is ready/not ready but will no longer display the Zone number of the faulted zone. Furthermore, it will no longer take commands from the envisalink even though the system status is available for viewing. The system also remembers my code for arming and disarming the system but that's about it. I'm looking for some advice on how I should proceed. Is it possible that the water just made the panel forget the zones but is still functional? Does it make sense to try to reprogram it? If so, why wouldn't it accept commands from the envisalink. Or should I purchase a brand new vista 20p panel and start from scratch? Or is there a more modern day solution/opportunity to upgrade the panel to something else? I will say that I only have the keypads that display numbers and not letters. Should I be replacing the keypads as well? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Is there any wifi exterior camera that doesn't require an app to activate? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 10:23 AM PST I mean I know there must be one but every single wifi camera with a power cable I can find requires the user to download an app and make an account or something. Am I super bad at searching for CCTVs or is the market completely flooded with "give us all your personal infos, the personal of footage of your cameras AND a monthly fee" kind of offer? It legit seems easier to just build one myself. Anyway, does anyone have that type of camera, can you recommend me a model maybe? Preferably something with no proprietary software, firmwire, codec etc [link] [comments] |
a new smart device improving home security Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:09 AM PST If you are looking for devices to improve the security of your home, maybe this project at Kickstarter may interest you: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/homewatcher/home-watcher-a-patented-breakthrough-in-home-security . Maybe you have already been aware: existing home security devices may be circumvented without much efforts, as detailed at http://www.gatorsystem.com . The new device uses smart infrared detection to remove the need for motion detection bypass in home security and thus significantly improve home security. The device detects intrusion, occupancy, and window status in one device. [link] [comments] |
