    Z-Wave alarm relay?

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 03:50 AM PST

Is anyone familiar with any z-wave relays with an alarm output? What I'm looking to do is to connect the alarm output from a z-wave relay to the alarm input of a POE camera which is connected to my NVR. I'm looking for the ability to have my SmartThings hub activate the relay on an alarm, send a wired trigger signal to the camera (and thereby the NVR) to record.

I have found this relay but for the life of me, can't figure out if it trips a z-wave action through receiving a wired signal or if it can send a wired signal upon receiving a z-wave command (or both?). Anyone familiar or know of a solution that might work here? Thanks!

    Lorex Fusion NVR

    Posted: 29 Jan 2021 11:42 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm looking for a NVR system with Person detection easy to setup and just monitor using the App.

    Lorex 4K Fusion NVR https://www.costco.com/lorex-4k-uhd-8-channel-fusion-nvr-security-system-with-8-smart-deterrence-4k--cameras.product.100675117.html

With the new 2K doorbell https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-wifi-security-camera/2k-qhd-wired-video-doorbell-with-person-detection/B451AJD-E-1-p

I also saw the New Reolink person detection NVR but they don't currently offer doorbell. I'm in no rush to get a doorbell.

I would only use 5 cameras. Plus a doorbell.

    Any advice,

    Thank you!

16 Channel DVR for IP Cameras

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 04:54 PM PST

My dad purchased a 16 channel security system from GW Security. It took him several months to set it up and a little over a year after it was running the DVR failed. The POE switch and cameras are still fully functional. What would you guys recommend to replace the DVR unit? It needs to have remote access. I believe the cameras are 1080p and I know they support ONVIF. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Backing up video data to the cloud

    Posted: 28 Jan 2021 10:32 PM PST

We just had our HDD fail on our surveillance system the same week we had a break-in in our condo building. Mostly smashed car windows in the underground parking lot, so could be worse, but the perp entered in direct line of sight of a camera and we got nothing.

We'll eventually look to upgrade to IP cameras but we just don't have it in the budget this year. In addition to getting a new HDD, I want to setup the DVR to back-up to the cloud. We have a Hikvision TurboHD DVR which should be capable of either TCP/IP or SMTP but the main issue is how the system is installed and getting it connected to the internet. Our security room is a concrete room in the basement with nothing other than an electrical outlet. Running the necessary cables there for a LAN line isn't feasible.

I feel like there's a solution where I can plug a SIM card into something for data and get a cloud back-up going. We shouldn't need a ton of data if we're just having it trigger on motion detection, right?

Does anyone run a setup like this? What is the language I should be using to find the right equipment?
