Wifi door peephole camera recommendation Posted: 14 Dec 2020 04:32 PM PST I'm seeking a door peephole camera that has wifi at the minimum with the ability to be viewed on a smartphone and is in one of the either following configurations: Able to replace the existing peephole while looking like a stock model. Able to be mounted over the current peephole from the inside using the current lens to view through. I don't need infrared as the hallway is well lit, or a doorbell function. Having a heck of a time finding something like this, anyone got a recommendation? [link] [comments] |
Moving into new home want to change locks. Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:21 AM PST Hello, Im moving into a new home (new for me, old in general) and want to change the locks. Im renting this house so I don't want anything that will cause me to do major changes. also I'm a young person who has no homesecurity DIY experience at all. The reason I want to change the locks is that the property manager mentioned he leaves those keys for his associates to come and do some fix ups and stuff while he was preparing the house for rent. I would love maximum security and not too high a cost. I was thinking of security cameras etc but I don't want to hire anyone to do the work because of COVID. The current doorknob seems old and has one of those push down latches to enter the house. I also want to change the lock that leads to the garage since I don't seem to have a key for that to my knowledge. Any tips on how to get started and what to look for etc? I just really need help getting on the right track here. Thank you and please let me know if I need to provide anymore info [link] [comments] |
Alarm system for 6 unit building front door Posted: 14 Dec 2020 10:32 AM PST Hello. Trying to find the best system for the front door Of our 6 unit building. It's hard because with 6 units people are always buzzing people in. I was thinking I could get the simplisafe and set it to a timer, let's say, 10pm - 5am Does that work? Does anyone recommend a system for apartment buildings and using a buzzer/intercom to let people in. [link] [comments] |
I have a LaView NVR with wired cameras, and I need to replace the NVR unit. Help please! Posted: 14 Dec 2020 06:57 AM PST I bought a home, and the previous owner had installed a LaView NVR security system with wired cameras (siamese BNC cables). The NVR unit has been failing. For the past year or so, it powers off randomly every few days. I assume it's overheating. Now, it won't even power on anymore. I'm trying to replace the NVR unit, and I have a few questions maybe someone can help with. Do I have to buy a LaView NVR, or will any brand work? Can anyone recommend a good NVR that will work with my existing cameras? There are four cameras right now, and I don't want to replace them, as they are already wired through and around the house. Any other advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Dec 2020 03:04 PM PST Newbie at this so bear with me... I inherited a mixed security system. One part is an 8 camera (3 wireless, 5 hardwired) Lorex system attached to a DVR. The wired cameras are OK but the wires run through walls and the attic. The wireless cameras operate sporadically. I have a display that shows all feeds. The second part is a SimpliSafe system with alarm, sensors and two wireless cameras. My Comcast connection sucks so I haven't really hooked the cameras up to anything. I'd love to be able to monitor all of the cameras from my PC rather than on a separate monitor but not sure if that is possible. I can live with what I have or make some changes if not expensive but would like to be able to work with what I have. Anyone have any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Dec 2020 07:48 AM PST I have a Lorex NVR and want to connect my 16 port PoE switch to it. Apparently you have to have a router in in middle. Does this router have to be connected to the internet? I want this to be on a private address. [link] [comments] |
