Use existing ADT sensors for other services? Posted: 22 Dec 2020 12:39 AM PST I recently bought a home which has an ADT security system installed, but disconnected. I am planning to replace it with Simplisafe since it has cheaper monthly fee and better app support (I suppose). But thinking of throwing away all existing working door and window open sensors (only beep when I open them since it's home/stay mode all the time) is kinda of waste. My concern is if I left like this will that cost any noise later on? The equipment is Honeywell, on green motherboard model shows WA15P-912. Should I keep using ADT or call local security company to reprogramming? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:20 PM PST I needed a system that can partition and have narrowed it down to Brinks and Telus (was hoping for a DIY option but no partitioning option). The costs seem similar but Telus chargers more to enable smart home. Any thoughts and recommendations? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Surveillance for Elderly Parents Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:21 PM PST I take care of my elderly parents and would like to set up a surveillance system using multiple cameras and sensors so that it will be easy to track them while I am away from home. What is the best and most cost-effective method for this? Im staying in Bristol, are there any smart home/ home security and wellness companies who can help. [link] [comments] |
Need help with Ewon FLEXY and POE cameras Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:53 AM PST Hey gang, who do I know that is expert in the field of POE Cameras and NVR and Ewon FLEXY brand Gateways. I would love to speak with you! In my water treatment systems, I currently use an industrial modular gateway (ewon FLEXY 205)that I configure for data acquisition & data logging, routing etc., from various components such as a PLC and other gear. I wish to incorporate a set of 4 cameras to my system. I currently have a 4 slot POE Switch running 802.3at. (35 watts max per channel) I wonder if anyone I know can tell me: Question 1)do I need to connect all four cameras with their individual CAT5 Poe to the switch and then these cameras would each have an SD card that air/are recording and rewriting hopefully and be able to dial up to the Ewon and view cameras through a portal of some type. I do understand I would have to set each camera in this way up as a static IP address. Question 2) can you suggest a good camera for this application. Important! My switch currently supports 35 watts per channel. OR Question 3) will I have to connect all four cameras to an NVR of some type and then a single line back to the Ewon and then be able to connect to the NVR to see all cameras. Important!! My system has a 24 volt power supply it would have to be an NVR that would run on 24 volt. If someone was expert in this,I'd be glad to call you direct. Thanks so much [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 02:21 PM PST We have a commercial remodel that we'll be working on and the owners are requesting the ability to view real time progress. I'm seeking a solution that potentially has mobile and web login capabilities. Would also like to have the ability to record to local SD and review that footage if needed. A final request was a time-lapse or daily screen shot that we could tie into a video when done. We will have power (not POE) and wireless. I've used Wyze cameras at home and honestly they work well for what I use it for and am thinking about replicating them here. I know they don't have a web browser though. Also unsure how the time lapse camera aspect works. [link] [comments] |
Looking for poe cameras but have asbestos Posted: 21 Dec 2020 02:32 AM PST I think I'm limited to wireless battery cameras for my house as asbestos is in the roof and the walls. Anyone had experience running cat 5 from inside to outside mounted cameras? (Up high, under the awnings/eaves)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 09:29 AM PST I recently moved into a new house. At my old place I had some basic swann security cameras that were mediocre at best. I know very little about the cameras especially their night vision capabilities. I am good with computer but I don't know which route will be best within my budget. I am expecting to spend about $800. I would also like to use poe for about 7 cameras total. Other than that I don't know what the best options are. Should I build my own system or stick with a packaged system like lorex?
