Auto Open Camera Feed (Ring, Blink, Wyze, etc.) on TV or Echo Show! Posted: 01 Dec 2020 05:07 AM PST Sharing a solution to automatically view ring footage on a tv or echo device when motion or people are detected. Apparently currently only works for US users. Check it out :) How To: Automatically View Camera Feed on TV or Echo Show (Works with Ring, Wyze, Blink and More) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:20 AM PST I want to put security cam in my land where i dont have option to put this to power plug. I was thinking to get every 48 hours to charge battery and watch what cam record in sd card. What is easiest way to this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2020 10:36 PM PST After doing much research from my last post of professional monitoring Looks like it has come down to Vivint vs ADC. Got a great sales pitch from customer service no contract but they are taking $450 a month upfront that's too much I think. Question is should I search for local ADC dealer or go with contract or no contract with vivint and pay upfront cost? [link] [comments] |
Need 2 outdoor cameras but hesitant about connecting them to wifi/internet Posted: 30 Nov 2020 01:05 PM PST I'm sure I'm not the only one. Is there major drawbacks to just recording on SD card? I figure I can review the card every few days. Snoopers are common enough in my city that i'd like to at least know if someone has visited my property. Am I being too paranoid about connecting to wifi? I just don't like the possibility of someone accessing the camera via the internet. I'd really like the app option and to be able to view in real time but don't know if it's worth giving up my privacy. First time home owner so this is all new to me. Any advice / recommendations on cameras would be appreciated. TIA [link] [comments] |
CCTV / IP camera noob here!! Tech gods please help Posted: 30 Nov 2020 10:44 AM PST Hello! Me and my family are on the hunt for a good CCTV/IP camera system and I've been the one tasked to do the research and it's all making my head spin a bit. I'm currently looking into the brands HikVision, Dahua, and Uniview, any thoughts on these brands and current preferences? Also have a few other questions, please forgive me if these sound basic or dumb 😬
Thanks in advance for any tech people out there!!!! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Nov 2020 06:11 PM PST Ring Survey Hello, I am an engineering student and I am doing a project on ring cameras and general outdoor security cameras. If you can, please take the survey. It is short and should only take 2-3 minutes. [link] [comments] |
HDCVI camera won’t work with Amcrest 16-CH DVR Posted: 30 Nov 2020 12:54 PM PST I bought an HDCVI camera to replace an aging camera that was showing artifacts and discoloration. When I plugged the HDCVI camera into the same cabling, the display says "Invalid camera format." I'm not sure where to go from here. I looked up a converter, but it ends up costing more than the four cameras I already bought. Is there some setting I'm missing? [link] [comments] |
I lost connection with my cameras. Please help. Posted: 30 Nov 2020 01:18 PM PST So I setup some cameras for my grandpa's business and everything was working fine until randomly they stopped recording. I tried connecting to them locally and I couldn't get a connection. Any ideas? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Use WD Red drives for Shinobi/Blue Iris Posted: 30 Nov 2020 12:01 PM PST Hi, I'm new to the hobby. I just purchased my first 2 cameras through amazon, 1x 2MP@ 50-60fps and 1x 4MP @ 25-30fps. I have few supermicro servers around, I can dedicate one for NVR. I have no hard disk drives. Could I get few cheap used WD Red from craigslist? My question is if I really really need WD Purples for only 2 cameras. Please advise. [link] [comments] |
Really off instructions from ADT about Google Home integration Posted: 30 Nov 2020 12:00 PM PST We just had a new ADT system installed. It is the 'Command' system, not their other product, Pulse. Pulse has Google Assistant integration and I used to use it at another address with no issue. ADT Command has absolutely nothing on their website about Google Home/Google Assistant integration, apart from the financial PRs about Google buying a big part of ADT. So I called ADT and asked them. After the agent helping me spoke to her manager, she emailed me some instructions to get it working in GH. Here is the weird thing: The instructions are for an Alarm.com account. The email begins, ' Always start the command to Google Home by saying, "Ok Google, ask Alarm.com…" or "Hey Google, ask Alarm.com…". On iOS devices, the Google Assistant app will need to be downlaoded ' At first I thought ADT is using a 3rd party cloud service for brokering connections from Google home, but quickly realized that was not the case. Alarm.com doesn't have this kind of relationship with ADT. I have replied asking foir clarification, but that was the week before last, and no reply yet. Does anyone know why ADT is sending me instructions for Alarm.com? (and as a side question, I don't see Alarm.com in the list of services for Google home anyway...) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Nov 2020 05:42 AM PST Am trying to find PTZ cameras without moving parts. No motors or actuators. Just a really wide-angle lens and a very high-resolution imager so panning/tilting/zooming can all happen digitally. Ideally, such a camera could produce multiple streams, each one being some window cut out of the overall imager view, all of those streams being at a "normal" resolution (1920x1080?). One stream might include the full wide-angle view of the lens, while a second stream could be looking at some particular area of interest in greater detail. This type of camera could move between areas of interest instantly, instead of having to run a motor to get to that next view. Do these exist? Are there search-terms that help find them? (I've tried "ptz security cameras without motors" or some variation, but it isn't finding what I'm looking for). [link] [comments] |
What should I buy today? I need 2 outdoor cameras. Posted: 30 Nov 2020 05:21 AM PST I know next to nothing about this topic. My father is law is looking for something to keep his neighbor at bay. These houses are side by side. The neighbor walks in their backyard to spray pesticide next to his garage. He can't even see that area from the rest of his property so I really assume it's just to poison the dogs... The neighbor is also suspected of sabotage of street parked cars. The neighbor uses their garage from the alley. Most everyone else street parks but the neighbor thinks he owns the spot in front of his house even though he doesn't use it. My in laws as well as other neighbors have gotten nails in their tires, coincidentally when they park there... He wants to point a camera at the parking spot and their small backyard. There is only an outside outlet for the front camera which also can be under an open covered porch. I'm not sure what they'll do with where the video is sent. They do have a bad laptop but only one cell phone and neither are tech savvy whatsoever. Please let me know questions I haven't answered. I don't want to end up buying garbage because there appears to be lots of that. The budget is only around $100 though... [link] [comments] |
