Difference between Ring stick up camera models Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:32 PM PDT Comparing these camera's I see only a few differences noted below. Viewing angles aside, is a premium charged on the second listed camera for the wireless standard and the temperature it can function in? Surprising that there is less of a viewing in the second listed camera. Are these different generations? Trying to see if one is truly superior and worth the extra $. TIA 1- https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/ring-wired-indoor-1080p-hd-ip-camera-white/13985777 Model - 8SN1S9-WFC0. This one is $79.99; 115 and 60 viewing angle; good down too -5C; wireless standard 2.4GHz Model - 8SW1S9-WFC0. This one is $129.99; 110 and 57 viewing angles; good down too -20C; wireless standard of 5.0GHZ. [link] [comments] |
IP Cameras - Outdoor, auto activation etc. Recommendations Posted: 31 Aug 2020 01:10 AM PDT Hello everyone, we own a big property and decided to install a bunch of outdoor security cameras. Does anyone have good experience or recommendations? Located in Germany. Our requirements would be as follows: -PoE cables -Auto activation -Full HD Resolution -Outdoor/Water/Squirrel(?) proof -possibly infrared/nightsight A price of less 700 Euros / 830 Dollars per camera would not burst the budget. Thank you very much in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:54 PM PDT Apologies if this isn't the place to post this! We moved into a house a couple of months ago that has a Protection1 2Gig security system. Problem is, our house was an estate, so the system hasn't been touched since the person passed away as far as we know. All this time, I had assumed the realtor or the estate would have taken care of cancelling the monitoring system and anything that goes with that, but from what I can tell from reading their website tonight, protection1 only leases their equipment. Since the equipment is still on and in the house, it makes me concerned that it is still being monitored and we are going to end up being hit with a stupid bill for not returning equipment or unpaid bills? We obviously aren't using the system because we don't have any of the codes for it, so it's going to be really annoying if we end up on the hook for stuff we aren't using, but even without a code, we can see from the home screen if doors are opened or the kitchen sensor is moving, so something is still working, I just don't know if it's being monitored actively or is now basically just a self monitoring system. Has anyone cancelled their contract and paid out whatever the "cost of damages" for the unreturned equipment, and just owned the stuff outright? Asking because I suppose it is possible that the estate just cancelled and paid all of the penalties so that we would own the system? I contacted protection one but they didn't respond, so I'm going to try to call tomorrow, but honestly I wanted to ask here first because I feel like they're just going to try to screw us and tell us that we owe them money since the equipment wasn't sent back (even if it was honest to goodness bought outright). Based on the reviews, it seems like kind of a shitty and useless company so I can't say I trust them to do the right thing. [link] [comments] |
Is there a brand of motion sensing flood light that is designed for a ceiling/soffit mount? Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:54 PM PDT I have been doing a bunch of shopping for motion sensing flood lights. I plan on putting one on each corner of my house. When I had the house built they put in junction boxes in the soffit. Nearly every reasonably priced motion sensor light was designed for wall mount. Almost every Q&A someone asks " does this work mounted on the soffit?" The answer is always. " The motion sensor doesn't work as good mounted that way". Please help. I would like to not spend more than $400. [link] [comments] |
night owl HD not working on new router Posted: 30 Aug 2020 10:12 PM PDT Howdy, recently upgraded my home network to the orbi 6. I was running my network with the nighthawk, but the network kept crashing. my night owl worked on the nighthawk. after unplugging it from the old router and plugging it into the orbi, it stopped working. I don't have the option to renew the IP address and I'm not sure if it's still holding the same IP address. any tips? [link] [comments] |
What kind of lights show up on the Outdoor Nest IQ camera? Posted: 30 Aug 2020 08:28 PM PDT I can't find any videos of the camera itself recording. I'd like to mount this facing a street but I don't want it to be visible. There appears to be a giant ring light on it, is it always on? What triggers that to turn on? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Aug 2020 01:05 PM PDT This may not be the right sub so I apologize in advance. Wife and I have had ADT for nearly 10 years. It was a great deal back then (roughly $30/month), and we own the equipment (Honeywell Safewatch Pro 3000). Unfortunately, over the years, ADT has been eating us alive and we're now paying $76/month. The bill isn't itemized, but somewhere along the line, I think ADT added a "Quality Service Plan." I assume Taxes and random Fees are also eating into this. Do you guys know of another reputable, recommendable service that'll let me switch to them while being able to keep my current equipment? Or should I just call them up and threaten to cancel service in an effort to negotiate the cost down? [link] [comments] |
Best PoE cameras you use with ZoneMinder Posted: 30 Aug 2020 02:57 PM PDT Wife and I just closed on our house and want to get a camera system in her ASAP. I already have my network and server all squared away (I have a 24 port PoE switch and a 48TB server running FreeNAS) and plan on running ZoneMinder to manage the cameras. I was looking at Vivotek, Dahua, or Hikvision cameras, but there are so many models I don't know where to start. I need two doors covered, the exterior of my house (would need probably 5 cameras for that) and one interior camera. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Aug 2020 09:59 AM PDT Just moved to a new house in an up and coming neighborhood. There is only one floodlight and that is in the back. At the front, back, and side doors we have sconces but they're decorative and don't put out any light. Is there any type of security lighting that we could replace the sconces with or anything we should look for when buying new sconces? [link] [comments] |
