Qolsys IQ2 alarm status indication? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 04:05 PM PST Panel is located on the first floor. We activate system at night, including downstairs motions (bedrooms are upstairs). We disarm with a phone or most typically a keychain. I'd like to set up some sort of indictor of alarm status upstairs so the kids (too young for a phone) know if the alarm is set prior to coming downstairs. They routinely disarm via keyfob, but it would be nice for them to know if system is armed. Would love to set up something as simple as a zwave outlet connected to a small light. However, we do not subscribe to the automation ADC plan, and the panel only does limited "local" automation, which I don't believe can be tied to alarm actions. I have several zwave devices set up through smartthings, but again, don't think I can connect the panel and smartthings without the automation plan from alarm.com. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Mar 2020 11:29 PM PST Hey folks, I'm looking for a new alarm system for our house which I'm renovating. I'd like to get something that has smartphone monitoring / control, and I've been looking at Ajax systems, which are apparently quite popular in the EU. I've noticed lots of people being unimpressed with wireless systems and potential for jamming signals, thought I would canvas for impressions on this system and their take on jamming defense? Camera to put in room while I'm away to make sure no one goes through my stuff. Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:38 AM PST I want a single camera I can set up in my room. Motion activated. Alerts my phone when activated. Allows me to view video remotely through an app or through browser. Records video to the cloud. Hopefully under $50. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:07 AM PST Setting up the house for a secure system. It'll be mesh-WiFi based, 2 storey home with basement. Here are my questions: 1) Weiser vs Schlage smart locks. I need a front door keypad, replacement deadbolts in garage and rear access. Just looking for what plays nice with home automation and quality. 2) Any good/bad reviews for Alarm.com systems? I'm in Canada so Nest and Ring aren't as widespread when it comes to getting installers and whatnot. There is a Nest installer here in the city, and maybe I can piece together a Ring system (doorbell camera won't work) Thanks for the help! [link] [comments] |
