Wireless camera with customizable motion detection zones that does not charge a fee for the feature

    Posted: 17 May 2020 10:28 PM PDT

I'm looking for a wireless security camera that has customizable motion detection zones but does not charge an ongoing fee for the feature. I was thinking of buying one of the Arlo cameras but it seems you have to pay monthly for that feature. I live next a busy road, so want to exclude activity there from triggering the camera. I would also like to be for it to be powered by a solar panel rather than a battery so I dont need to worry about recharging or changing the battery ever. Eager to hear folks suggestions

Bought a home that has a Guardian Protection system, should I use it or is there a better option?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 05:47 PM PDT

Greetings and thanks for taking the time to read this. We bought a home that was built in 2013 and has a Guardian Protection system that was placed during the building process. It has the smoke and CO2 detectors, several movement sensors, and sensors on the doors. We live in a low crime area but we still want coverage, especially cameras outside, doorbell camera and ability to open or close the garage door via phone app seems interesting. Not a huge fan of the keypads on the front doors though, so would probably pass on that. We plan to stay here at least 10 years but wanted to get other people's ideas. Many of the neighbors have Guardian Protection and seem fairly indifferent to the company.

    Alternative Dvr home security software

    Posted: 17 May 2020 12:32 PM PDT

I have a Samsung home security camera system which work ok....but the dvr software is horrible and not user friendly at all, if I need to gets video clips or pics it is damn near impossible.

Is there a alternative generic dvr software that would be compatible to this system that can be accessed from a pc or iPad that is easy to use?

Thank in advance of any help,

I don't have digital zoom on my camera in the web ui. Does anyone know why that might be? I can't find any settings that are disabled.

Why do I see similar security cameras with different names/branding?

    Posted: 17 May 2020 07:48 PM PDT

I'm seeing a lot of almost identical cameras with the same product imagines and product details. They even have the same details format in amazon. Is this indicative of a shitty Chinese manufacturer? Anything to be concerned about?

What forum for security cameras don't suck?

I've heard nothing but terrible things about IPCamtalk.

Are there any that aren't scams?
