Will 4 pairs on a cat5e cable work to connect 6160rf keypad to Vista 20p? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:02 AM PDT I pre-ran cat5e cable to where my security pad should be. I see in the wiring diagrams it takes 4 wires. Will splitting the cat5e cable up and using 4 of the 8 pair for that task be ok or do I need to run something else to the location? [link] [comments] |

Reolink Lumus 24/7 surveillance Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:21 AM PDT When i bought Reolink Lumus, I was excited about motion detection, all the notification and/or SD card recording options. But, as it turned out PIR sensor does not have the range i wanted (although, some sensitive parts of my yard are captured by video but movement there cannot be sensed there by PIR). Then I searched Reolink support and as it turned out, 24/7 recordings are available using a ) their system b) using cloud or c) using FTP server. Now, cloud is only available for selected countries, but they disabled FTP option on Reolink Lumus. You cannot have 24/7 cyclic video (overwriting older recordings) surveillance, you can only record on SD card few seconds when PIR detects motion or you must manually turn on recording in desktop client. Did any of you have similar issues? How did you handle that? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 04:51 PM PDT I'm having an issue of my Amcrest camera losing its' correct preset locations. Every so often when I choose a preset it is wildly off in one direction or another. Each time I have to go in and re-setup the preset locations in the web portal. Anyone have any ideas? [link] [comments] |
How to disable an access panel? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 08:30 AM PDT I recently purchased a house that had the DSC 1616 system installed with the DSC PK5501 keypads. One installed by main entry door and another in the basement entry. However they're on the same system and I've figured out how to disable the basement zones. How do I go about disconnecting the other panel? There are three red and black wires, with 4 pairs for green and yellow going into the main panel. I've been able to locate the black and red cable, and can disconnect the power. But I kept getting errors, probably should have checked which error it was throwing.... Basically the second panel is wired as one panel vs secondary. I've disabled the zones for basement, but now want to make it so the alarm panel doesn't do anything downstairs. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 11:03 AM PDT Looking to add some security equipment to my townhome. Cameras and etc. are the items in question. I read ring is ok but hackers can get in. Any low cost recommendations ???? [link] [comments] |
How is alarmgrids or GeoArms response time? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:36 AM PDT I'm looking to cancel ADT and to install my own Resideo lyric. I'm thinking of either getting alarm grid or GeoArm...both of their monitoring centers are outsourced so im wondering if the quality is the same or similar to ADT's response time. I'm just worried that the response time will not be good because I once had xfinity which took like 3 minutes to call me. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Webcam software with ISO control? Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:59 AM PDT The question is simple. I need a webcam software which can help me change the ISO. Or any other software that produces image/video with reduced noise/grainy effect is fine too. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:59 AM PDT Need some help figuring out what I thought should have been relatively simple.. Purchased this Kwikset lock: As well as Ring Doorbell I thought I can use both devices through an app to have full control of the lock with the idea being that I can unlock it from upstairs or even remotely when I'm away to say let in someone to walk my dog. It seems, however, that is not the case I would need Ring Alarm system to make that process happen. I'm considering it but...is there anyway I can make this work now without purchasing additional devices? I was thinking of swinging to walmart to pick-up Google Home - presumably that would solve the problem, but - will that give me off-site remote access to the lock through Google Assistant or something like that? I thought I was smart but this configuration is making me reconsider that opinion...help.... [link] [comments] |
