Looking for Microphone Recommendations for Honeywell H4D8PR1

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:34 PM PDT

I have some Honeywell H4D8PR1 cameras I will be installing that have two RCA jacks labelled audio in and audio out. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation on microphones for IP cameras.

    Zoneminder ubuntu setup

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has set this up on ubuntu before and could give me some tips? I've set it up once before but got loads of errors. I think it could have been in the database. I could link cameras but couldn't ever see videos. It just seemed really buggy. I a bit of a noob with ubuntu and coding so it's highly likely I've done something wrong. Thanks ☺

ADT troubleshooting (2 sensors must be tripped before cops are called issue)

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:08 PM PDT

Calling on all clever r/homedefense redditors:

Just got ADT installed to discover that, in my specific county, it requires 2 separate sensors to be triggered for the cops to be called. This is a very odd feature where I live that not everyone at ADT was aware of it. Luckily this was found out while the installation tech was still here, so they helped us troubleshoot a potential workaround. The issue is that a home intruder may only enter and leave through a single access point, in which case the cops would not be called.

We first thought that we could just double up on the number of door and window sensors in order for the system to think that two sensors were being tripped when one door/window was opened. However, ADT refused to install them since that would bypass the county's rules...

We then thought that if we have 2 glass break sensors (the sound detector kind) close enough to the siren, the sensor would be triggered by the sound of the alarm. When we tested it though, we found the sensors to be pretty finicky and they weren't always triggered by the siren.

After 7 hours of installation and testing, we called it a day. They left us with the two glass break sensors and an additional siren to see if that will work for now, but I'd really like to get a more reliable solution. Any ideas?

Note: the system is "ADT Control" -- not ADT Pulse, the older interface that allowed installer codes to be entered if you wanted to configure the system later.
