Home security: Looking for home security system

    Looking for home security system

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:52 PM PST

Looking for a home security system that has multiple cameras that work off motion detection and that send an alert to my mobile if anything is detected. Also lots of stray cats around the area that could set some alarms off.

How much do you monitor your own security camera?

I'm thinking about what kind of security system to get and debating between DIY and monitor service.

For those with DIY systems sending live feeds and alerts on your phone, how frequently are you watching? Every time you pick up your phone, do you check?

I keep my phone silent but I guess I'll need to change that if I want to get alerts. Not something looking forward to when working nights, snowboarding, riding motorcycle, etc...

And those who have Ring system's monitor service, is that recommended?

Can't pan left or right with wall mount cam

After 2 weeks back and forth emails with support, I was finally told you cannot ptz left and right if camera is wall mount. Is this true? They shipped me a free wall mount hanger so I am inclined to believe but I cannot understand. Up and down work.

Security for car on public car park

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:27 PM PST

I live in the UK and I park my car on a public car park across the road outside my house. My car is facing the house about 15m away from the front.

There's been 6 incidents of damage in 2 years which is starting to grate on me as my car is expensive and the damage is usually quite bad, totalling around £2000 in repairs.

What is the best possible technology I can use to protect it? CCTV can help but it's expensive and won't necessarily catch a good enough image with the car park being across the road.

Are there any car dash camera setups I can get installed that are better than just forward facing dash cams and detect movement around the car?

    Looking for any advice please.
