Home security: In need of 4 outdoor cameras. I bought a wyze but I have no power source so I have it in my living room. Just out of a relationship and I get scared. I don’t have a large budget bc I’m paying all the bills myself for the first time. Someone was in my house and a man was outside catching Pokémon.

Is there some kind of alarm that syncs up with bluetooth or wifi so that I can manually set it off?

I know certain Ring devices have this feature but in my case I don't need the spotlight, the motion sensor, or the camera. I live in an apartment in a bad neighborhood and have a tiny fenced-in backyard with no bushes or places to hide, so if there's someone in the yard I know about it. I already have motion sensor alarms on the doors and windows. I'm looking for a loud outdoor alarm that I can sync to my phone that I can set off if there's someone out there that shouldn't be, in an attempt to scare them off.

It seems like a pretty simple technology. Is there anything like this out there?

    Mosaic ip cam viewer?

Hi, I know this qheatiok probably gets asked loads, but is there a program which: 1) Plays RTSPs with hardware acceleration (blue iris and ispy don't!) 2) Isn't a subscription.

Or would it really be cheaper (and easier on the electric bill) to just get an NVR!

It's just to plug into a bedroom TV..

PC is 15 years old, but has an Nvidia GT610 I put in, I'd like to use the decoder. Opening the 5 camera streams manually with vlc media player works just fine with hardware acceleration and maybe 20% cpu. Using ispy it's pegged at a rather laggy 100% cpu.

Switching from Slomins to Ring alarm system: quick question on powering down Gem p801

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 09:35 AM PDT

Moving to Ring security system from Slomins because I think they are a bit overpriced now, especially their service calls. In the house (inherited it and the alarm system from my mom) it's all hardwired and has one smoke detector. My plan is to take the old alarm sensors off the windows and motion detectors, leave the wires in the wall, and replace them with the ring equipment.

I know where the box is so I can pull the backup battery and the power plug out. Is that all I need to do? Should I be worried about the siren going off when I do this, since I read the p801 is set up to detect lines/power being cut?
