Looking for feedback on a privacy-first security camera app Posted: 01 Feb 2021 01:09 AM PST Hi everyone. I'm creating security camera app with AI event detection (human detection, face recognition, animal detection, etc.) It sends alerts on events as your setting and records event history. The app runs on iOS 14, completely offline and no data tracking/collecting. You can use it on a spare phone put on a tripod. I'm running beta test. So anyone interested can try out free. I'd love to know if you find it helpful or have any suggestions. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Weird problem with Night Owl X App Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:59 PM PST Hello all, I have a NightOwl 8ch THD50B DVR with 4 wired 1080p NightOwl CCTV cameras. I set it up today and it worked well. I logged in to my NightOwl account on my phone and was able to add the DVR. The thing is I wanted to give a family member access to the cameras so I gave him the login info - but he was unable to login. The only difference between the two of us is that I have an Android phone (Moto G8) and he has an iPhone 6. I investigated this further by trying to login on other phones. I logged in to another Android phone just fine, but when I tried yet another IPhone (this time an iPhone X) the same thing happened. I've even tried changing the password and the same thing happens - Android logs in, iphone does not. [link] [comments] |
Friend gave me an ADT Pulse camera. Can I use this without an ADT account? Posted: 31 Jan 2021 09:05 AM PST I couldnt figure it out right off the bat, contacted ADT service and they said I would need an account with them. Is this camera basically worthless without shelling out some serious money for an ADT service ? [link] [comments] |
Newer dlink cameras aren't for sale Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:32 PM PST Why does dlink keeps releasing cameras that I can't buy in the US? It's really annoying. I've been waiting to get a dcs 8000lhv2 for a year now. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 11:34 AM PST So we have had a series of car break-ins in our neighborhood lately. I would like to add ~2 outdoor cameras. Our house is on a 90 degree bend in the road with very clear angles to view the road in both directions. The main purpose is to watch the driveway and the sidewalk to the front door. I need some advise as to what system / brand to look at. I am an IT nerd and can handle pulling cable if needed. Here is what I am thinking requirements wise, but I am very much so open to input if my requirements need adjusting.
Thanks for the advise. While I do not want to sell a kid to fund this, I am also willing to pay for quality vs just checking a box. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Jan 2021 05:07 AM PST Hello! MODS: I know that my question is not related to the main subject of the subreddit, but the technical aspects of my project are related to it, so I thought that my post may still be interesting for many people. I am developing my own setup where I want to stream online several artisans working. I want people to be able to control the cameras from a website, but also to suggest some interesting locations (ie. when people hit a specific button in the sidebar, the camera automatically points to the artisans table at 2x zoom level). Image quality is important. After some days researching, I think that I have to take the route of
I don't need audio, recording capabilities, AI capabilities, motion detection, alarms, NVR/DVR... But I am absolutely overwhelmed by the huge amount of brands and models and how complicated is to get to compare them all (ie. Hikvision alone has 3010 references in onvif.org for profile T cameras). Can you point me to a camera that I can use? Any help find the perfect camera will be super welcome: brands, models, places where I can narrow my search, similar projects to use as a starting point,... Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Minimal entry alarm solution for inset door Posted: 31 Jan 2021 08:33 AM PST Looking for some sort of device that will sound an alarm if the door opens when armed. I also need it to be minimally invasive (no wiring or boring into the door) since I rent and would have to ask the landlord's permission. Not looking for complete 100% guaranteed security, just peace of mind when I go to bed. The tricky part: From the inside, the door is inset into the wall by about 2.5 inches, and the door opens inwards into a narrow hallway. This makes it impossible to install a simple magnetic sensor like this because one half will always get in the way of the door opening. I have a cat, so I'm assuming a motion detector with a wide range is out. Looking for suggestions or any other advice. I'm thinking something like a narrow beam that triggers an alarm when the door interrupts it, but I don't know what it's called and having trouble finding models with okay reviews. How to set time delay on Brinks 4000A Posted: 31 Jan 2021 09:30 AM PST I have a Brinks 4000A installed in my home and do not want monitoring. I can't figure out how to set a time delay, so I can leave the system on and get out the door without the alarm going off. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |
