Posted: 12 Nov 2020 12:46 AM PST This recall has to do with the screws that are used to install the doorbell. They can cause the battery to catch on fire. If the doorbell is installed correctly, there is no risk to consumers or potential hazard present. https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050949611 Description: This recall involves Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), model number 5UM5E5 smart doorbell cameras. The video doorbells have a blue ring at the front and come in two colors: "satin nickel" (black and silver) and "venetian bronze" (black and bronze). They were sold with a mounting bracket and a USB charging cable. The two-way audio doorbell can be hardwired or battery-powered and supports night vision. The Ring logo is printed on the bottom front of the doorbell and the model and S/N are on a label on the back of the doorbell and the outer packaging. Consumers can determine if their doorbell is included in this recall by entering the doorbell's serial number at http://support.ring.com/ring-2nd-gen-recall . Only Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) models with certain serial numbers are included. Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop installing the recalled video doorbells and contact Ring for revised installation instructions or download them here. Consumers can check if their video doorbell is part of this recall through Ring's website or app. Incidents/Injuries: Ring has received 85 incident reports of incorrect doorbell screws installed with 23 of those doorbells igniting, resulting in minor property damage. The firm has received eight reports of minor burns. [link] [comments] |
New homeowner: what is this system Posted: 11 Nov 2020 02:06 PM PST Moved into a new home and previous owners have this installed. I used to have DIY Lynx5100, with monitoring from AlarmRelay. Can I set this up with AlarmRelay? Please help! Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:47 PM PST I've been thinking of buying outdoor cameras for my home. Unfortunately, I use my mobile hotspot as my internet source, so if I leave my house so does the wifi. Is there a camera that would store video locally when motion is detected and I'm not home, but would also automatically (or at the very least easily) connect to my hotspot when it finds it and switch to uploading videos to the cloud when motion was detected? I just don't want to have to fiddle with it every time I'm coming and going to get it to switch between modes and I'd rather not have to pay a monthly fee for one of the cell cameras. Posted: 11 Nov 2020 05:57 PM PST Hello everyone, We have a (rather outdated) PC5010 pre-installed at our house. It's been pre-wired and has 3 keypads all set up. The problem is that we are the third owners and we do not know the master code or the user codes. The system has the installer bypass enabled and I am trying to use the bypass to change the master code to set it up for our use. Here's the problem. When I connect the AC wire, the alarm beeps to indicate that it has turned on, but on the LCD screen, it displays "System armed." The alarm system arms itself when I connect it to power and it seems like something triggers the countdown before it sets off the alarm. What should I do in this situation? I was going to change the master code and set up the user codes. Do I do a factory reset? Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Looking for a cheap wireless camera to monitor windowell that may flood. Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:56 PM PST Looking for a camera that I can put in a windowell that sometimes fills up with water when we get excessive rainfall. It is a PITA to go out there with an umbrella to check it in the middle of the night in the rain. Also, I have a cover to the windowell so it is dry unless, of course, I remove the cover. I can also just put the camera in there temporarily when we are forecast to get a big rain event. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:09 AM PST There are loads of POE cameras out there, but which ones can be monitored by a central station? Deep Sentinel does this real time based on motion sensors I guess. What are the available options for video monitoring? Surety says they use preselected cameras 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after an alarm triggers. Alarmgrid.com says only the home owner has access to that video on their systems. ADT has cameras too, but do we need to ask each company what happens to the video feed? There are some folks here who do extensive systems with complicated arrangements that make me scared to consider. Others, like myself, struggle to understand the basics, like what happens to the video and is it used for monitoring purposes by a central station or not. In general I assume the central station does not look at video but this seems to differ with each individual company. [link] [comments] |
Should i use Network based wireless CCTV or wired DVR based CCTV for external use? Posted: 11 Nov 2020 04:44 AM PST Currently i'm using network based cameras for indoor monitoring, and i've plans to extend the monitoring outside of my house, my house is quite big so i would need some repeaters to extend the range of my wifi so the outside cameras can be connected, DVR based cameras would be useful when the internet js offline, but are quite a hassle preparing the cables and DVR itself Which one should i choose considering its usefulness and efficient of using? Can you suggest me a good cloud based home security camera? Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:56 AM PST Hello all I am using Heimvision camera for my home. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N819P4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zdeRFbT47RGH2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I am paying for subscription and its ending pretty soon. I think of switching to other camera. I dont want something recording to the hard drive, i want something that saves video to the cloud. So i am willing to pay for subscription. Anything you can recommend? Amazon blink isnt an option due to it not having continuous viewing session possible. [link] [comments] |
Infrared illuminator / spot light (110/220 VAC) Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:49 AM PST Looking at getting some infrared illumination to improve the night vision on my cameras. All I can find are fixtures that require an AC adapter to bring the mains voltage down to 12/24 VDC Looking for something that I can wire into the house wiring like any other fixture. Are these my only options or is anything else out there? https://www.ledtronics.com/Products/product_select.aspx?id=R30-123-851-120AS&d=R%20Bulbs,%20Infrared [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Nov 2020 11:49 AM PST I bought this one and I noticed that the camera has a microphone, this made me uncomfortable, especially because amazon is just reselling the things. However when I look up the camera I see almost nobody being suspicious about it except for these two articles 1 2. [link] [comments] |
