I got my first safe today! It’s a Winchester 24 gun safe and it has about a 30 to 45 minute fire rating. Cost $499 at tractor supply.

    Outdoor Panoramic/Fisheye POE Camera Recommendations

    Posted: 08 Mar 2020 08:48 AM PDT

As the title states, I'm looking for recommendations for a wide angle outdoor POE camera. Planning to mount it to a wall beneath a motion sensor light. Obviously, I'm also looking for a small enough shade for the camera that it would not be a hinderance to the light and prevent glare into the camera lens. This would be mounted at the second floor level and should be able to cover the full 180 horizontal field of view in front of it and the 90 vertical degrees between straight down and the horizon. Those are the minimum fields to cover. Anymore is not a problem, just not necessary for this use. Being a second story it would also need to have Starlight IR/night vision at 90 meters with high optical zoom (ideally). Total budget would be less than USD$500. Any good recommendations from experience?

    Edit: specs

N00b First time Homebuyer, wont be living at house for the next 2 months.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 06:59 PM PST

    Hello y'all -

First time home buyer(out of state) here but we won't be moving into the house because my job doesn't start for the next two months and we have a rental lease that runs for those 2 months. We've already checked with insurance and they've confirmed that we're covered in case of a burglary. I'm considering having a friend check in every week and considering flying every month just to check on the property till we actually move in.

We're considering installing the Simplisafe system and hooking it up to wifi and potentially having a smart switch light that goes on at night with extended monitoring.

The house already has an external motion-detecting light and we plan to add one more on a blind spot.

Any other tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
