Home security: Leaving ADT for Surety

    Leaving ADT for Surety

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 11:27 PM PDT

I have the TSSC / pulse panel with adt and the sensors listed below. Like others I'm ready to leave ADT and their ridiculous fees. I'd like to reuse these wireless sensors. It seems like a common recommended combo here is the Qolsys IQ panel with surety/alarm.com. However i noticed the panel is rather pricy at $336. Sensors currently: 1x shock / open/close sensor (i think Honeywell) 3x open/close door sensors (Honeywell) 2 glass break sensors (unsure of brand)

    1) Is there another option ppl recommend? I assume the Ring system would not work with my existing sensors? 2) Can you tell me if these sensors would work with the IQ panel? 3) Would my current key fobs also work? If not are there key fobs available for the IQ? It's my favorite part of the ADT system (arming and disarming without having to be at the panel) 4) with the IQ can I add sensors like water/freeze? 5) we have a cat and 2 small dogs, all of which jump on the furniture. Because of that we never use motion detection. What other way would you protect a ground level basement? Open/close sensor on a window seems insufficient if it's broken but not opened. Motion can't be used because of pets. Glass break sufficient?

    Thank you!

Good Resources/security specialist for dealing with online stalking and protecting yourself and information online?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 05:58 PM PDT

Ps: My apologies if this isn't the right sub to post this question. However, I feel I don't know where else to ask. I'm going through some stress right now.

I'm looking to hire a security specialist that can assess my situation. I'm not comfortable sharing the details but briefly I'm dealing with a online stalker who's potentially mentally unsound.

I would like a security specialist who can give me the right tools to protect myself, my business and online persona. This situation is very new to me therefore, I would like a experienced person to guide me through it.

I know that there companies like K-2 intelligence, Kroll who can help private clients. However, I'm looking for maybe a database where I can hire a security expert that specializes in protecting "influencers" or content creators.

Requirements: -Specializes in content creators/influencers -Is familiar with dealing with mentally unsound people. -Can help me protect and security emails, accounts, online presence. -Can identify threats and good at risk assessment. -Can help maintain and low profile and divert attention from myself. -Potentially has connections with private investigators or has connections in these sphere.

Lots of holes in my system...help?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 06:23 AM PDT

So for the record, I don't live in a high crime area. Our development has a gate which is closed 24/7. We are very well lit up at night. 6' wood fence surrounding the back yard. To get to the fence, you'd need to go through pretty thick woods, or through neighboring properties.

Been watching LockPickingLawyer on YouTube and he has shown all my locks for gates and even the front door, and picked them or bypassed them in a matter of minutes. He also bypassed the simplysafe system, which we have Ring, but I'd imagine it's easily as bypassed. We do have cameras (ring) covering all entrances.

What else can I do to beef up security? Seems like most my locks can be bypassed within seconds. On the front door I have one of these which I feel is fairly secure. On the sliding door I have a bar that goes in the track when closed.

What else can I do to beef up security?

    New home - garage access

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 10:48 AM PDT

Hi, I'm a first-time home owner and I wanted to ask other home owners how they managed to secure entrance to their garage. The home came with a LiftMaster chain garage door opener and the previous home owners provided me with 2 access remotes.

There is a keypad on the outside of the garage that allows for opening the door via code and setup of other codes. When I bought the home my realtor didn't share any information about this master code. My question, do previous homeowners typically provide this? I'm not sure even if they had provided me the code that I could somehow override it with a newer one? I assume if the previous homeowner's wanted, they or someone who had access to the master code could open the garage.

Anyone solve this issue without having to buy another garage door? I appreciate the helpful feedback.

    ADT Enter Exit Delay

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:52 AM PDT

Hello. I have ADT alarm system for home. As we all know they are a nickel and dime company. We have a side door and a front door. Only the front door has the enter/exit delay. We would like to add this to the front door as well. ADT wants to to charge us to send out a technician to modify this.

I tried reading the manual but couldn't find anything.

Do any of you know how to do it? Would you be able to tell me?

    Thanks in advance.

    UPS to ensure security?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:16 AM PDT

We lost power for a few days last year and I realized home security was gone with the loss of WiFi and power. Even common monitored systems only have a battery backup maximum of 8 hours. Is a UPS attached to the router the answer? And just use wireless cameras around the house?

Amcrest IP3M-956EW (PoE) cam just stopped working. Fixable at all?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 04:04 AM PDT

I've had this for about 2 years. Under a porch, not susceptible to elements, etc. and it just stopped working. I've tried different ethernet cables different working ports on the PoE switch, holding the internal button to factory reset...nothing.

Is it just dead, or is there a way to truly determine an internal fault in the hardware?

The cameras are simply the pictured squared lens and custom USB cables. I'd like to be able to mount the lens area, but am unable to find any mounts. Does anyone know where to find them?
